The western Simmental Club consists of approx 300 members from the Counties of Sligo, Letrim, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.

The primary aim is to breed and promote Simmental cattle.

This is done in various ways such as displaying animals at local shows, having a number of special sales, open days etc.

Fundraiser

In assocation with the Irish Cancer Society a Draw will be held for a Simmental   X   Heifer (pic above)  at Ballymote mart on 26th October 2009

 Tickets are €2 each, book of 3 for €5. See seperate page for more details.
Note: Our raffle heifer will be going to the "ploughing" on 23rd,24th, and 25th Sept
call to the Simmental stand and join the meitheal from the west who will be helping out with the Simmental cattle and selling tickets to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and Western Simmental Club.

Motto: dont wait to be asked simply join in and roll up the sleeves.

Open Day

There will be a open day on the farm of  Tom & Carmel Maloney Carroward, Bohola, Claremorris,  Co.Mayo on the 29th August at 2pm to 5pm.

A number of events are planned including linear scoring (how its done) 2 animals to be scored, hoof care demonstration, grooming demonstration, guest speakers Bertie Houson, Peadar Glennon, Brein Caroll, talk given by vet / lab tech from D.A.F.F. Connacht Gold and many more.

Enjoyable day to be had by all.

Tullamore Agri. Show 09

Congratulations to the Neenan Bros. Ballyhaunis Co. Mayo who won the Irish senior heifer title at Tullamore on 9th August 2009. Well done lads. (see photo page).
